As you surely know, the WHO has declared the Coronavirus to be a pandemic. California is shutting down events, and the US is blocking travel from Europe for 30 days.
The Biohacking Conference Team has worked tirelessly to put on an amazing event for you. We want to do it. All of our speakers and partners are ready to show up. The vast majority of attendees we have heard from want to do it.
So, it is with sadness and a bit of frustration that I’m writing to inform you that I, together with Dave and the rest of the Upgrade Labs Board, have decided to reschedule the 7th Annual Biohacking Conference until July 24-26, 2020.
Despite the best planning, efforts, and intentions, the reality is that there is a meaningful chance you could be sent back home on arrival, quarantined in California, or even stranded here.
We won’t do that to our friends and community. We believe there is a nearly 100% chance that large events will be banned in LA soon, as they have been in Seattle and the Bay Area.
All of this is independent of the likely case that, if you are a healthy adult, odds are you will experience few or no symptoms. The “moral panic” is causing lots of events to cancel or reschedule, and there is a real argument that slowing the spread amongst healthy adults will slow the inevitable spread to the majority of people, over time.
Only time will tell whether society’s response to the risk was too strong, just right, or not strong enough. In any of those cases, we care about you and are doing our best.
Many friends travel a long way for this event, and moving to a new date is inconvenient. Your tickets will automatically transfer over. You do not have to do anything.
This has been a big blow to the team working hard on the Conference and represents a large financial hit, as well. We remain committed to delivering a world-class event for you on the new date.
In the meantime, human resilience and having control of your own biology (including getting sick) is more important now than ever. The Team will continue to communicate with you and share information along the way. If you have questions, reach out to Customer Support at firstname.lastname@example.org.
